& the wall paper

Here ya go, it sucks....please help. Here are the dramatic pics of our hall way, with the scraped off/painted wall paper. Once it all comes off....we then have to sand it, then paint. It takes FOREVER! Oh yea, forgot to mention that the entire master bedroom walls are that way too. Steamers don't work, been there done that....remember that the wall paper has been painted on, and it only comes off one inch at a time, piece by piece, by piece, by piece...arg....its really a pain in the you know what.

more pics

The two pics above are of the guest room, I bought every thing separately, started with the curtains from the old apartment, the dresser is a hand-me-down from my family, then I bought the comforter set because I loved it and it was on sale for $60 from Target....The brown pillow is from the old couches, and I accidentally found the floral pics from Old Time Pottery for $11!! That was a great find. Oh, and the hanging star is from a friend of a friend that came to my old apartment once and knew that I liked lanterns. The start has a place for a tea light to light the mood.

H
Here is my couch, end table and spinning chair, in my living room..not in the store and that is hard to believe because HOME PLACE takes soooo long to deliver! I hope you read this Home Place CEO!
............it is really hard to cut the chair rail at the exact angle to hang there (where the white is).

New Furniture!

Oh yea, wanted to show my most valuable project...the knobs and handles we added (for a buck a piece) to the drawers and cabinets. Who wouldn't want handles on their cabinets, that is one thing that I never understood.
Yay for the bathroom!

New Mirrors...and light fixture.

The tile...the paint, the chair rail...all to much to handle...love it so. But ....if you look closely we bought the same grout, twice, added the same amount of water, twice, and it turned out different colors. Ridiculous! ...that is part of the one percent that we still need to fix.

I can't belive we finally have black chairs to match our black table. We found them for 60 bucks each at a ware house, and there Ashley. We did have to assemble them our selves, but once again, we saved a bundle by shopping around. Most places sell their chairs for around 100-120 bucks each.

I am so excited...the bathroom is 99% finished! AND....our furniture is here, well we finally got it delivered on Saturday, then my husband started to assemble the coffee table (it came in a box, and even though we paid for the set up, the loosers did NOT set it up) and then one of the screws on the leg broke, and the only way that we could fix it was with Gorilla Glue. Sorry, but this coffee table was a couple hundred bucks, and Gorilla Glue is not going to be the answer! So, after my husband called HOME PLACE!! and bitched, we finally got our coffee table, that came assembled and all of our new pieces are here! Now we have to decide on how to arrange it. We have an L shaped living room, so if you have any ideas let me know.

Next project: scraping off all the wall paper in the hall way. And please don't advise that we use a steamer, the best solution to removing wall paper that has been painted on is to use a spray bottle full of plain tap water, then drench the wall, and scrape off inch by inch with a putty knife. Wish us luck.

We also got the carpets cleaned, call around...you will be surprised on the different variations of price.

Forgot to mention the location...

Home made lemonade, lemons came from our back yard.
Real wood blinds, well worth the trouble of installing and the 4 trips to Lowes, to have them cut and re-cut.

Before we painted, the house was pink, inside and out.

Awww....Panama City Beach, our neighborhood is located on the Gulf of Mexico. This was taken 1/2 mile from our house.

Oh yea, and our new house is 10 minutes from the beach. One of the reasons why we bought it.
-I unexpectedly started this blog today. I will update it w/ more recent pics soon. I am sure we will have more struggles of home renovation, but every thing has been well worth it so far.

List of Projects:

Here's a preview of the new furniture, this pic was taken in the store. Hopefully it will be delivered by Saturday.
The kitchen..

The Florida Room (still don't know what to do w/ this, for now it is the dart room, and where our dog, Gabbie, lives.

Theres Gabbie, and a pic of the living/dinning room area.

Kitchen again.

Before Pic of the bathroom...stay tooned for the after pic.

Living room/dining room again, but now we have black chairs to match our black table, will post pic soon.

Since Eddie (my husband) and I bought our first house ever at the end of last year we have done a ton of projects. In the past 5 months we have already seen the good, the bad and the ugly. We purchased our home on Dec. 30, 08. The house was built in 1973, and was in great condition for its price, but needed a little updating. We have spent thousands at Lowes, and spent hours at Home Depot. We have became regular customers of the too. We know Lowes like a fat kid knows his cake.

-we have painted

-built a fence (the gate is still not on it.)

-added knobs to the kitchen cabinets and drawers.

-put in a new kitchen sink focet (well a contracter from Lowes did.)

-bought our first fridge (floor model at Best Buy, Whirl Pool, side by side for $600!..normally $1100 fridge.)

-and bought our first new set of furniture (which is still not delivered, HOME PLACE!)

-started taking down the wall papaer in the hall way, (pain in the ass, the previous owners painted over wall paper, we have to scrape it off in one inch pieces).

-started the land scaping, trimming palm trees, clearing out bushes and bought our very first weed wacker and lawn mower.

--and finally re-modeled the guest bathroom. This has been the biggest project of all, we thought we were going to be able to do it in one day, 6 weeks later it is almost finished. The previous owners had carpet in there (way nasty) so we tiled the floor, painted, added a chair rail, re-tiled the back of shower, new mirrors, shower knobs, shower head, and new fixtures. We also added a new light fixture, during this process my husband has been electricuted twice and thought he died. He is fine, and the electrician just left a few minutes ago. We now have light and power in both bathrooms. Yes, the problem was so ugly that for some reason the power was not working in the other bathroom as well. But I will say many thanks to my husband an father-in-laws hard work on this home project. They have been working every weekend to try and finsish this bathroom before our summer house guest arrive. Since they started this project there has only been one trip to the ER, Eddie had tendonitious in his wrist from tiling the floor.
